Sachin tourism ambassador for Maharashtra

The state government has urged cricketer Sachin Tendulkar to be its tourism brand ambassador, with 2011 planned as “tourism year”. Tourism Minister Chhagan Bhujbal wrote to Tendulkar Wednesday, pointing out Amitabh Bachchan’s role for Gujarat, Aamir Khan’s for Indian Tourism Development Corporation and MS Dhoni’s for Jharkhand. Bhujbal said he met his party chief Sharad Pawar, president of the International Cricket Council, with a request to convince Tendulkar.

Sachin dance

Technorati Tags: ,,,,,

He challenged none other than King Khan to make Sachin dance and betted he will do anything for King Khan if he made it possible.

Shah Rukh took up the challenge and brought Sachin on the stage. An awfully embarrassed Sachin moved sideways, did a small cute jig until SRK rescued him and put him out of his misery. Apparently Sachin seldom attends parties or dances like his contemporaries. In the past Sreesant, Harbhajan, Yuvaraaj have tried to make him dance but in vain. But now Sehwag can gush about it taking credit.

All this and more! Sahara India Sports Awards 2010 will bring some of the most magical moments between sports stars and Bollywood. SISA felicitates the sports talent across the country and entertains as it brings the amalgamation of sports and Bollywood on television.

Dhoni interview on New Zealand Test series

Technorati Tags: ,,,,,,

"I would say we have performed 60 per cent of what we are capable of in this particular Test match. It may be for whatever reason. About the first two Test matches, we could only play up to 40 percent of our potential," the Indian captain said at the post-match media conference today.

However, the skipper once again came in defence of an out-of-form Suresh Raina terming the player's bad patch as a result of being "mentally" exhausted having played a lot of cricket for last six months.

"Raina has been consistently playing for long period of time. Even I got a break during the tour of Zimbabwe but he also played there. Luckily, I have got a break of 10-15 days now which will help to freshen up and prepare for the South Africa series.

"But he hasn't got a break even in the first two matches of the New Zealand ODI series. There are times when it's more of a mental aspect than a physical one of not being 100 percent there," Dhoni said, while backing the talented Uttar Pradesh youngster who has only scored 26 runs in four innings.

Sachin Tendulkar completing 21 years of international cricket…

A star was born 21 years ago… His contribution to cricket has been unbelievable. The way he carries himself is exemplary… He is so humble after so many years. I feel honoured to play alongside him. His dedication is also tremendous…Even now he practices as if it is his first Test. There is a lot to learn from him. I wish him best of luck.

Sachin disappoints fans at Nagpur test

Technorati Tags: ,,,,,

"I apologise to the crowd," he smiled when asked how it felt to disappoint millions of fans who were anticipating Tendulkar's 50th Test ton. The iconic batsman was dismissed for 61.

"I am very happy to have got  Sachin's wicket. A few more would have been great," said the left-arm quick bowler.

Questioned on what exactly was the plan to get Tendulkar out, he said, "I wanted to bowl a quick delivery. It was a quick delivery and it produced the result."

McKay is still hopeful that New Zealand will be able to save the Test match if they can bat session by session.

"The pitch is still pretty flat but there's some turn on offer. Also it's keeping up and down at times. The first session will be very crucial and we have to take it from there on. Obviously we need to bat deep into the fifth day."

Sachin closes 50th test century at Nagpur test

Sachin Tendulkar's unbeaten 57 assumed special proportions for the momentousness of what it promised.

India's drive to take a significant lead on Day III is bound to get buried under the prospects of Tendulkar's 50th Test century and the master looked determined to get it. New Zealand tried to unsettle him with short-pitched deliveries but Tendulkar was unruffled, offering no shot, even if it meant taking the ball on his body.

Will sachin hit his 50th test century

The ground echoed with ‘Sachin’ chants, as the spectators who had turned up caught a glimpse of a fully geared-up Tendulkar, before a batting session on the practice pitch at the centre of the ground.

The main focus during the third Test at Nagpur will inevitably be on Tendulkar and whether he will eventually score his much-awaited 50th Test ton, on a ground where he has crossed three-figures in each of the two games played here previously.
